Writing Your Resume
One of the most important things you need when going into a job interview is a resume. Most of you reading this more than likely have had a job interview or are currently working. Resumes are not just for jobs but can also be used for scholarships or applications for school. If you’re struggling with building your resume, I’ll help break it down.
What should I include in my resume?
When creating a resume make sure to include these things:
- Contact information: Make sure to include a phone number, address, and email address
- Education
- Achievements (If applicable)
- Volunteer work (If applicable)
- Extracurriculars (If applicable) (Mainly for schools and scholarships)
- Prior work experience
Because this section is talking about job searching specifically you won’t need to include volunteer experience, unless you have never worked before. If that’s the case, include the volunteer experience you have and everything you can list, so education, achievements, volunteering, etc.
Dressing Professionally
- Whether it’s for the interview or a regular day at work, try dressing professionally or even just nice casual wear.
- When applying for a job you want to leave a good impression on the interviewer. By showing them you can dress appropriately shows you are willing to put in effort and be a good worker with very good self-presentation
- If you’re a college student and need professional clothes for an interview, most universities should have a program set up for students to pick out professional clothes for free.
This topic may seem silly to cover but it’s something that everyone should keep in mind when applying for work or internships.
